Manuela Wiesler was born in Brazil inthe daughter of an Austrian cameraman and a ballerina. In she moved with her family to Vienna, where she entered the Conservatory of Music inlater studying in Paris. In she moved with her husband to Iceland and lived there for a decade.

Long after leaving Iceland Wiesler kept a close connection with the country and it's musical live. Further study with James Galway was followed by this success. An extraordinary flautist and musician, renowned for her recordings of Jolivet's complete works for the flute and a source of inspiration to many composers, Manuela Wiesler had few competitors in her art of creating glowing,intensely personal readings.
