These delicate, twisting sculptures, linear compositions comprising a multitude of tangled, knotted rough threads, project a fragile shadow of irregular punctuations, extending the teeming dance of her ink-on-paper works. Inthey inspired the artist to create her first thin paper lines. Stretching out from one to twelve metres in length, they offer new possibilities of spatial expansion to her spontaneous and uninterrupted mark.

In its sensorial minimalism, the art of Pierrette Bloch has been providing the outlines of a deeply embodied poetics of gesture and repetition. Working with collage, ink on paper, hardboard, rope and horsehair, she developed her favourite forms of reference: dots, lines and hyphens. Aside from collages, fromBloch also started producing works in China ink on paper.

In these pieces, Bloch creating a confrontation between black and white through marks, spots and squirts. These produce graphical, rhythmic drawings. In addition, the ink pictures — white, ivory, black and grey — produce a kind of inscription, whose significance remains a secret kept by the artist alone. All these works bear this stamp whilst also incorporating scraping techniques in the process of their making.
